Sweet almond oil is pressed from the edible seeds of the Prunus dulcis tree more commonly known as the almond tree.

We all love and snack on the almond which can be consumed whole, ground into flour, pressed into oil or made into almond milk which is a tasty non-dairy milk made from ground almonds and filtered water perfect for vegans.

There are two types of almonds, sweet almonds being the variety we typically eat, extract oils and make cosmetics from. Meanwhile its cousin the bitter almond is used for its scent and is also believed to have medicinal properties but if improperly processed could be toxic.

Although they are commonly referred to as nuts they are a seed found at the center of the almond fruit which closely resembles a peach.

Almond oil is commonly used in many popular mainstream cosmetic products due to its great skin benefits. Sweet almond oil is very cost effective in comparison to other more expensive oils and in return you get an extremely versatile ingredient perfect as a base oil for all your DIY products and projects without losing/sacrificing too many benefits.

Almond oil is rich in vitamins A, E and D contains omega-3 fatty acids as well as zinc and potassium minerals, from that you have an array of benefits. Almond oil improved skin tone and completion and soothes dry skin. It aids in the balance between water loss and moisture absorption on the skin as it is highly emollient. Almond oil can also be used to treat acne due to its antibacterial properties. Vitamin E aids in reducing signs of aging also healing sun damaged skin and improved scaring on the skin.

Almond oil has a long history being used by many ancient civilisations China, India in their ayurvedic practices in the treatments of eczema and psoriasis. Ancient Egyptians prized it for its amazing skin benefits and used to sooth minor wounds and cuts.

Almond oil can be used on the FACE as a cleanser or to gently remove makeup, BODY and on the HAIR. Almond oil is light and easily spreadable, so it soaks in quickly to the applied area and is also a great moisturiser. Beyond moisturising almond oil is one of the best carrier oils to use in aromatherapy and is a great massage oil or skin treatment.
